Planning Commission & Board of Zoning Adjustment

Public hearings give applicants, residents, and other interested parties the opportunity to review project applications and provide comments to staff and the designated Board/Commission reviewing the application. A public hearing is required to be held by the Planning Commission for the following applications: rezoning, special use permit, preliminary development plan, and vacation. A public hearing is required to be held by the Board of Zoning Adjustment for applications for variances. Meeting agendas for Planning Commission and Board of Zoning Adjustment will indicate if an application will have a public hearing and the order of the public hearing on the agenda.

Upcoming public hearings include the following applications:  

Tuesday, November 19, 2024 Planning Commission meeting (6:00 PM, 520 Main St. - City Hall Annex)

  • An application submitted by Community Development staff for the formal presentation and consideration of adoption of the 2050 Belton Comprehensive Plan.
  • An application submitted by Clayton Ward with Autumn Ridge Homes, LLC, to request approval of a Rezoning from “C-2” (General Commercial) to “R-3 PUD” (Multi-Family Planned Unit Development) zoning, and approval of a Preliminary Development Plan (Creekstone at Autumn Ridge) for four two-story and two three-story apartment buildings with 144 units total. Proposed amenities include a pool and clubhouse, a pickleball court, a playground, and a dog park generally located on the west side of S. Mullen Rd. from the railroad tracks south to approx. 400’ south of Sycamore Dr.
  • An application submitted by Mason Banks with Tombstone Properties, LLC to request approval of a Rezoning from “R-1” (Single Family Residential) to “A” (Agricultural) zoning to construct up to 4 single-family houses with agricultural uses generally located on the west side of Kentucky Rd in the 15700 and 15800 blocks.

Upcoming Community & Neighborhood Meetings:

  • Early 2025 - staff is currently researching best practices for short-term rentals and will present this information at a community meeting in early 2025 for consideration on how best to accommodate short-term rentals in Belton. Please check back periodically for updates!
