How can I find out if someone is in jail?

You will need to call the Belton Police Department Jail at 816.348.4443 to see if the person you are looking for is located in our jail. 

 

What can I have the Belton Police Department do finger prints for?  

Currently, the Belton Police Department is only doing Court Ordered Finger Prints. 

When can I come in and get my finger prints done? 

The Belton Police Department is able to do finger prints Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Fridays (unless it is a holiday). The hours of operation for the finger prints is 8:30 am to 11:30 am and then from 2:30 pm to 4:00 pm

How much will it cost me?

At this time the Belton Police Department is not charging any fees for the Court Ordered Finger Prints. 

What all do I need to bring with me? 

You will need to bring your picture ID as well as the court order letter issued from the court.

When can I visit someone in the Belton City Jail? 

Days of visitation is Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. Hours of visitation are from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm.

How many people can visit someone in jail?

There can only be 2 visitors. These visitors will need to be 18 years of age or older. 

Do I need to bring anything with me when I come to visit ?

Please make sure you bring your picture ID with you. Your ID is the ONLY thing you can bring in with you.

How long will I be able to visit? 

Your visit will only last 15 minutes.  

 

General Information

The Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) was passed in 2003 with unanimous support from both parties in Congress. The purpose of the act was to “provide for the analysis of the incidence and effects of prison rape in Federal, State, and local institutions and to provide information, resources, recommendations and funding to protect individuals from prison rape.” (Prison Rape Elimination Act, 2003). In addition to creating a mandate for significant research from the Bureau of Justice Statistics and through the National Institute of Justice, funding through the Bureau of Justice Assistance and the National Institute of Corrections supported major efforts in many state correctional, juvenile detention, community corrections, and jail systems.

The act also created the National Prison Rape Elimination Commission and charged it with developing draft standards for the elimination of prison rape. Those standards were published in June 2009, and were turned over to the Department of Justice for review and passage as a final rule. That final rule became effective August 20, 2012. 

In 2010, the Bureau of Justice Assistance funded the National PREA Resource Center to continue to provide federally funded training and technical assistance to states and localities, as well as to serve as a single-stop resource for leading research and tools for all those in the field working to come into compliance with the federal standards.

 

1) Where do I call to find out if someone is in jail?

You can call the Belton Police Department at 816-348-4443 and ask if the person is in our jail. 

2) How do I find out what their charges and bond might be? 

When you ask the Belton Police Department if the person is in jail, you can also ask them what the person's bond might be. If the person is completely booked in they will be able to give that information to you over the phone. If not you will need to call back at a later time.

They will not be able to inform you of the charges that the person is facing.

You will need to call the Belton Police Department 816-348-4443 to see what the bond is. If it's cash only, a surety ( approved bondsman), a signature bond, ICE hold, 24 hour hold, and / or hold for another agency. 

What do they take for  bond payment?

The Belton City Jail accepts credit card for Belton charges only. For all other charges they only accept cash. 

Where do I bond out someone? 

You will need to go to the Belton Police Department. Once you park in the front parking lot you will then need to go to the left side of the building towards the garage. There is a door next to the garage that says BONDING. When you get to the door you will then let them know who you will be bonding out.

 

 

You will need to call the Belton Police Department Non-Emergency Number 816-331-5522 and speak with the Sergeant over the Jail to set up a time to see if he is able to do this for you.
